A tale of two friends

- Byunghyun (Mino 21) -

There were two close friends. They were born in the same town. They attended the same school. They happened to enlist in the same base in the army.

While they were serving in the army, they came to be involved in the Vietnamese War. One day of fighting, one of them was wounded by an enemys bullet when they were making a dash at the enemy. Of all the places, it was a hard-fought field on the battlefield that he collapsed on. He was breathing hard with pain. The other tried to go out of the trench after looking at the sight, because he was still alive. A major general stopped the man at the moment.

Even if he can be survive, he cant take part in a battle. He will be a burden to us when we make an attack or a withdrawal. Before everything else, I dont want to see the very sight of him in you.

The other man, however, did not respond to the instructions given by his major general. He got out of the trench. He went through the place where bullets were raining, and finally arrived the spot where his friend was lying. The man came back to the trench, carrying the wounded friend on his back.

Heartlessly, the wounded man on his back had already gasped his life away. He was hit by several bullets, and was bleeding out of breath. The angry general pressed him hard for an answer.
Your friend is dead. You cannot take part in our battle any more. Who benefits from your action?

He had a definite reply. I benefited by my action, sir. My friend told me that he knew I would come to him.
