The pencil tool on the left is used when
you execute straighten, smooth, and ink.
You can understand this easily in the option
item below.
I have explained in chapter 3 the rest of
option, that of selecting thickness and
form of line.
Draw a diagram holding down Shift key. You
will see some effect. I think there is no
difference between this function and line
drawing except that, in this function, line
keeps being drawn following mouse movement.
In Brush Tool you can give an effect of
brush painting on the stage, paint specific
part or fill the blank.
Brush Mode is as follows.
Paint Normal: painting is overlaid on the
existing picture.
Paint Fills: paint only inside of a diagram
except the outline.
Paint Behind: paint only the outside of
a diagram.
Paint Selection: paint only the parts that
are selected by arrow tool.
Paint Inside: paint only inside of a diagram.
This function is not very frequently used,
but knowing this will help you in detailed
work. Below is the gradient lock function.
This function is used when you paint color
with gradient, and undoing lock function,
you can apply gradient to various parts.
This function is also not used much, but
just get the knowledge of it.
The next tool is Ink Tool and Paint Bucket
Tool.
Take a careful look at these for you are
going to use them very much.
Ink Tool is used to modify line or outline
of diagram. First select the outline and
then click when you make a modification.
Or you can click any diagram with this tool
to change its color.
Making good use of this kind of tool will
bring forth a good animation effect.
The next is a very important Paint Bucket
Tool. This strong tool is used together
with gradation effect function.
You will see on the left picture that you
can modify the direction of light according
to the way you apply gradient. Keep this
in mind before you go for designing in order
to create precise shape.
You will see three small boxes popping up
as you push Transform Fill button and select
the diagram you want. From the top down,
shape adjust, size adjust, and angle adjust.
You would get accustomed to this moving
these buttons as you wish.
Lastly, take care that you can always represent
3-D shape even after you merged several
diagrams with the full knowledge about light
direction.
