The above picture is the worktable where
we are going to practice Flash. In general, it is
called Stage, indicating the actual area on which
web browser or Flash movie is displayed.
Picture number 2 is Timeline. This part is the core
of Flash, which you should not fail to learn. Timeline
is formed horizontally by Frame, and vertically by
Layer.
Layer means level. The uppermost layer constitutes
the top level. So, if you have completed shaping up
each layer, lower layers will be shrouded by upper
layers.

|
The above picture is Toolbar. As most of you Windows
users might expect, when you click on something that
looks like a magnet, Snap will be turned on, which moves
mouse and cursor according to the set grid value
What¡¯s ¡®grid¡¯? That is forming Stage in plotted format.
|
Executing
view/grid will show plotted Stage. Now, push the magnet
button to activate Snap and draw a square box.
If you want to change the value of grid setting, go into
modify/movie to set the gap and colour anew. Just give
it a try. |
 |
| Beside Snap,
there are curve tool and straight line tool. These change
a curve to a smoother one or modify a straight line into
a curve. |

Do you
see three buttons gathered together?
The first button is Rotation Tool button, the second is
Size Change button, and the third, Arrange Tool button.
These buttons are frequently used, so take a careful look
at them.
To explain Rotation Tool button first, select an object
you want to rotate and click the Rotation Tool. Each corner
will take a round form. Move your mouse close to the object,
then you will see each corner is changed into circle shape
for rotation. Move around while holding down your mouse
button.
Move a circle in the middle of the corner to distort the
object. With this function you can create various shapes
and animations.
Size Control button takes the same form. When you put
your mouse on the apex, its shape will change to let you
lengthen or shorten the object.
Next, Arrange button is important. I will explain this,
viewing the next screen.
First select more than two objects, and push the Arrange
button. A new window will be opened upward. |
 |
Vertical
is a vertical arrangement, and Horizontal is a horizontal
one.
X mark indicates that you did not take any option. If
you want to arrange two separate objects vertically, push
the Left Arrange button in the second Horizontal and click
OK.
Space Evenly arranges vertical or horizontal space evenly.
Got some idea about this picture?
Match Size adjusts the selected object to its largest
size, either longest or broadest. No difficulty in this.
Space where is written 85% shows the present size of Stage.
Show Frame enlarges the object to the full size of Stage
and Show All shows all the size of objects in Stage. Try
to learn this by yourself.
Some of you may see Inspector or Library (Ctrl + L) screen,
but I will tell you about these later in related topic. |
